Alpha accounts: invite-only, first 200
Accounts are open by invitation only during the alpha, and capped at 200. To ask for an invite, visit the Dark Room Discord server (the link is in the bio on the Dre Darkroom Twitch channel), say who you are and why you would like to test, and give the Twitch channel a follow while you are there if you like.
What an account is today: you pick an alias that you can change any time, and everybody can see the full list of aliases you have used, so nobody hides behind a name. You give a year of birth and your country, so the right age rules apply (for example 13 in the UK, 16 in Germany); only the year is stored and it is never shown. You sign in with a one-time link emailed to you, no password needed. You can add a Twitch name, which is saved but not checked yet.
Play without an account any time: guests are anonymous and nothing is stored about them. Account holders can also switch on hidden mode, which shows other players a short anonymous code instead of the alias.
Each invite link is personal, expires, and works once. A link that is opened from several different devices and networks is switched off automatically and the person is told why; we try hard not to switch off a genuine person using two devices.
⚠ Not ready yet: sign-in with Google, the Twitch name check, the help bot, replay sharing, alliances and one login across all the sites are on the roadmap. Email sign-in links are live but have only been tested with a stand-in mail sender, not with a real invited person. Terms and privacy notice are drafts. None of this has been tried on a real phone.
